The mission of the Delavan Aram Public Library Foundation is to provide a vehicle for foundations, corporations and individuals to give grants and donations to the Aram Public Library for financial support of its current and future needs.
The Delavan Aram Public Library Foundation is exempt from Federal Income Tax under sections 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to the Foundation are tax-deductible under section 170 of the Code, and are also qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, and transfers of gifts under sections 2055, 2106, or 2522. We are guided by these values : knowledge, service, quality, integrity, respect and communication.
In 1991 there was a very substantial addition to this original Aram Public Library. This addition was designed and built to capture and complement the beauty and artistic majesty of the original building. The 1991 addition of 12,112 square feet was built for a cost of some six hundred thousand dollars, The new addition included an elevator to allow handicap access, a separate children’s area on the main floor with a lower level large meeting room, larger and up-to-date restrooms, a new cataloging area, a rare item storage space, and a pay telephone.
In 2016 the Mayor formed a Task Force to explore the possible expansion of the library to meet modern needs. Libraries have changed significantly in the 25 year since the last expansion. Libraries now are more community centers than book depositories, and current space needs are inadequate for this additional mission.
